National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization establish to recognize outstanding high school students.

More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. It is the oldest continuous honorary society for secondary and middle schools in America.

Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in activities of the NHS. NHS chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. Territories, and Canada. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

Meetings:

Unless otherwise stated, Present members meet in Room 111 at 2:45 PM on the first regularly scheduled 3^rd hour Panther Time of each month.

Time Commitment:

Members must attend meetings once a month and participate in services activities. Specifically, members are required to perform a minimum of five (5) hours of community service per active semester for a total of twenty (20) overall hours, members must participate in the group NHS-sponsored service activities. Member officers are required to organize and carry out at least one service event for the chapter and take part in social and professional opportunities as applicable.
